Abstract

Generally, there is an increasing importance of leadership intention among university students in developing future leaders. The objective of this study is to examine the relationship between Self-Efficacy and Subjective Norms with Leadership Intention among private university students in Malaysia. In this study, the independent variables are Self-Efficacy and Subjective Norms, while the dependent variable is Leadership Intention. The targeted respondents of this study are students from private universities in Malaysia, and a total of 160 questionnaire responses were successfully collected. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software is used to conduct reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis to test the relationships between the variables. The results from Multiple Linear Regression analysis indicate that both Self-Efficacy and Subjective Norms have a significant positive relationship with Leadership Intention. This study is conducted to contribute to the existing literature by focusing on leadership intention among private university students in Malaysia.
