Abstract
Storytelling is an essential growing component of early childhood education, which promotes creativity, imagination, fostering language skills, and emotional expression. Yet children’s access to mobile media is now near universal. For example, UK data show that by age 11 roughly nine in ten children own a mobile phone, while many apps mainly encourage watching and playing games rather than making their own content, such as safe collaboration and creative authorship. In this project, an application, Story Craft is proposed to solve this gap by offering an interactive storytelling app where children can draw, upload those drawings and select photos from the gallery to generate a story. Story Craft supports a drawing module which enables users to draw their own creative design in the drawing part and upload their drawings to generate a story for them. It also provides an uploading photo module which allows users to upload their photos from their gallery and generate a story for them. Users can select their preferred story genres and edit the generated story. The users can enhance their drawings using drawing tools with optional enhanced illustrations to become more creative and artistic. The app supports text-to-speech features which allow users to convert their generated text stories to voice. The secure login authentication module with email and password is also provided in Story Craft. The app provides a community section where users can upload their generated stories and interact through likes, shares, and comments with the users inside the community. Story Craft supports history modules which allow users to revisit and track their previous stories. Story Craft is developed using Visual Studio Code with Flutter, which is a mobile application to ensure broad accessibility across Android. The Story Craft is designed to be safe for young users. By combining drawing, storytelling, and community interaction in an application can enhance user’s creativity and digital expression in a meaningful way.
