Abstract
This study examines the effectiveness of safety training in reducing fall-from-height incidents in scaffolding work within the construction industry. It aims to identify the essential training content and delivery methods based on CIDB standards, assess the level of on-site implementation and compliance among scaffolding workers, and propose improvements to enhance training effectiveness. A qualitative approach was adopted, involving semi-structured interviews with scaffolding workers, safety officers, and site managers, along with on-site observations at a construction site in Puchong. The collected data were analysed using thematic analysis to explore patterns related to training practices, worker behaviour, and implementation challenges. The findings reveal that while basic safety training helps to build awareness, but there are still gaps in practical application, supervision, and compliance on site. Several barriers were identified, including time constraints, language differences, worker attitudes, and limited enforcement. This study suggests that reinforcing the training delivery method, strengthening supervision and the enforcement system, applying smart PPE, and implementing AI CCTV can help improve safety performance and reduce fall-related risks in construction projects.
