Abstract
As cybercrime and data breaches rise in Malaysia, many are questioning if traditional passwords and PINs are enough to keep them safe. While biometric authentication offers a more secure alternative, many Malaysians still hesitate to adopt it. This study explores why, using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) alongside Security and Privacy Risks (SPR) to understand the Malaysian consumer's mindset. By analyzing 300 valid responses through PLS-SEM, the research found that while usefulness and security are important, the ease of use is actually the biggest factor driving people to switch to biometrics. The study also highlights that a person’s intention to use the technology strongly predicts their actual daily usage. Interestingly, the data shows that age plays a significant role, with different generations approaching financial technology with varying levels of comfort. These insights provide a roadmap for Malaysian policymakers and developers to build more intuitive, trusted, and secure systems for everyone. Keywords: Biometric Authentication, Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Security and Privacy Risks, PLS-SEM, User Behavior, Malaysia, Cybercrime.
