Abstract
This research investigates the relationship between FinTech growth and bank performance in Southeast Asia, emphasizing important metrics like return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE), and net interest margin (NIM). The banking industry, which has historically been vulnerable to outside shocks like the COVID 19 pandemic and the global financial crisis of 2007–2008, is now under more strain due to the quick development of FinTech, which offers both chances for financial inclusion and efficiency as well as difficulties with cybersecurity, competition, and regulation. By performing a cross-national analysis of Southeast Asian banks before and after COVID-19, this study closes a significant gap because previous research has mostly focused on developed economies or single-country contexts with equivocal conclusions. We are utilizing panel data regression, including Pooled Ordinary Least Squared (POLS), Fixed Effects Model (FEM) and Random Effects Model (REM). Thus, we expect the conclusion to be that the growth of FinTech has a positive impact on bank performance. Keywords: Fintech, bank performance, pre- and post-COVID-19
