Abstract

Over the years, there has been a surge in the wellness market. In particular, there has been a noticeable change in people’s dietary habits and food preferences. At the same time, the healthy dietary trend in consumers’ food choices can also be recognized within the context of Malaysia. Malaysians nowadays have witnessed increasing health consciousness, leading to a surge in the popularity of healthier food options. Therefore, this study aims to assess the impact of dietary trends on health and wellness food consumption in Malaysia, which is expected to provide valuable insights for the government, health professionals, the food industry, academicians, and the general public in the country. This study leverages the conceptual framework of the Information-Motivation�Behavioural (IMB) theory, which aims to discover the impact of the independent variables on the dependent variable. The independent variables of this study are dietary information, dietary motivation, and dietary health literacy, while dietary behaviour is the dependent variable. A total of 414 responses are valid and included in the data analysis, which is collected via Google Forms. The data is analysed utilising Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software version 27. The findings derived from the analysis further support the discussion of this research. The findings reveal that dietary information, dietary motivation, and dietary health literacy possess a significant and positive relationship to dietary behaviours. The most influential independent variables that affect dietary behaviour. Indeed, the practical and theoretical implications of this study are discussed. The limitations and recommendations for further research are provided in order to improve the insights for future related research.
