Abstract
This project addresses three critical gaps in existing e-wallet platforms: the lack of effective group financial management tools, the absence of integrated bill-splitting functionality for social activities, and insufficient multi-currency support for internationally mobile users. Following a systematic literature review of existing e-wallet systems and collaborative financial management tools, a fully functional mobile e-wallet application was developed targeting the iOS platform using Flutter, Node.js with Express, and MySQL. The application delivers five core modules. Individual wallet management supports nine international currencies with Stripe-integrated top-ups, peer-to-peer transfers, QR code payments, and live-rate currency conversion. The shared wallet module enables group fund management with configurable transfer limits, real-time transaction tracking, and a consensus-based closure mechanism with four fund distribution strategies. The group bill-splitting module supports manual entry and AI-powered receipt scanning via the Claude API, with item-level allocation and automatic in-app payment settlement. A Transfer Calculator presents real-time exchange rates and a seven-day historical trend chart via the ExchangeRate API. A contact management system prioritizes added contacts across shared wallet and bill-splitting workflows. Security is enforced across two independent layers: account-level verification via Google ML Kit liveness detection and transaction-level authentication via PIN or native iOS Face ID. Registration is secured through Firebase Phone Authentication OTP verification and bcrypt password hashing, with session tokens persisted in encrypted local storage. The system was validated through an incremental development model across four sequential increments, with functional testing conducted against all twenty-five defined use cases.
